Malta is connected to the Internet Global network over two separate fibre optic links. The cables belong to DataStream (in conjunction with Telecom Italia) and Vodafone being peered at the Milan Internet Exchange (MIXIT) and Brussels Internet Exchange (BNIX) respectively.
Major Hosting / Data Facilities are equipped with the necessary infrastructure including redundant internet connectivity, resilient uninterruptible power supply (UPS), generator back-ups, CCTV and security equipment, fire fighting and environmental control all of which will guarantee uninterruptible operation at all times. A number of them also offer immediate 24/7 technical / customer support. When choosing your Provider it is important that the facility has been certified and approved by the LGA.
