Q3 employment in Malta 2% higher in 2010

A recent survey and statistics released from the Labour Force Survey show an increase an employment of 2% in 2010 when compared to the same quarter the previous year.

It would appear that a larger number of private companies in Malta were hiring much more in the private sector in the third quarter of last year. This led to an increase in the number of people who were in full-time employment.

The survey stated that 170,466 people in Malta were in employment in that quarter. Gozo News reported that this is almost half of the adult population.
The largest proportions of the population were employed in the service and retail sectors, followed by manufacturing jobs. Despite the fact that jobs in Europe have been hard to come by over the last few months, particularly in Spain, Malta seems to be doing well.
