As Nasdaq.com recently reported, it would appear that Malta's unemployment rate decreased from last year in the third quarter. This information was released by the National Statistics Office in Malta. The unemployment rate decreased to 6.2 percent in the third quarter from 6.8 percent in the third quarter of 2010. The number of jobless persons declined to 11,218 in the third quarter from 12,146 a year earlier. It would appear that a larger number of private companies in Malta were hiring much more in the private sector in the third quarter of last year. This led to an increase in the number of people who were in full-time employment. The number of employed rose to 170,466 from 166,313.
