Parents
In today's materialistic world, children are faced daily with situations, that are difficult to refuse or overcome, be it dress wear, kind of entertainment, alcohol, drugs, manners etc Parents too, face these problems of their teenage children and it is obvious that they are concerned about how they should cope with these situations.
The following advice should help parents prepare their children for this challenging world:
- Never accompany your son or daughter to an interview.
- Explain to your male children to avoid piercing their ears and all your children to avoid piercing their nose and tattoos in any area of their body. This will definitely reflect badly on them in the future. From experience we know that people regret this kind of adventure, as they get older.
- Encourage your son to attend interviews in a smart hairstyle, clean, shaved and in smart/casual dressing.
- Encourage your daughter to attend an interview in smart/casual and decent dress. Over dressing is to be avoided and more importantly she is to keep her dignity and not give in to any sort of undesired attentions.
- It is important that your family feels it lives in a home and not a house. To achieve this, find the time to speak and hear your children daily.
- Always listen to what your children have to say.
- Get to know all their friends.
- Invite their friends to your home with the prime intention of getting to know them better.
- Avoid saying "No" to your children. Give your child your opinion and your advice rather than just saying "NO".
- Guide your children to explore their talents and encourage them to take up studies relating to their talents.
- Encourage them to participate in any kind of sports. It is healthy and will teach them to avoid getting into bad habits.
- Teach your children the value of sacrifice and that without it there can be little happiness.
- Encourage your children to give by helping, assisting and aiding anyone in need. Make them understand that more happiness can be found in giving, rather than receiving
