School Leavers
Unfortunately, society does not make it easy for both teenagers and school leavers. Pier pressure attributes a lot in the formation of characters, especially at your age. We are no preachers, but experience has proved that certain attitudes and moral values help in make your lives happier, more understandable and more importantly worth living.
The following will not take much of your time to read, and we are sure that at least some of the advice applies to you:
- Avoid attending an interview in company of any other person, including your parents.
- Keep your hairstyle smart and avoid 'mushroom' and other funny styles.
- Make sure you attend an interview clean, shaved and in smart/casual dress.
- We encourage young ladies to attend interviews in smart/casual and decent dress. Over dressing is to be avoided and more importantly, they are to keep their dignity and not give in to any sort of undesired attentions.
- Avoid tattooing any area of your body and the piercing of your nose, brows or ears (especially males). This will definitely reflect badly on you, in the future. From experience we know that people regret this kind of adventure, as they get older.
- Always listen to what your parents have to say. No one, other than your parents, wishes you the best that life has to offer.
- Try to discuss your problems primarily with your parents and not your friends.
- If your parents are hardly at home, draw this to their attention. Let them know that you need to be a family and not feel like strangers.
- Learn about the value of sacrifice. You must understand that without sacrifices there can be little happiness. Be responsible at all times and resist all temptations. At the end of the day, unless you abstain and control your desires, it is very difficult to live a happy life. By learning to make sacrifices you will live a happier life. Fleeting pleasures often make you unhappier in the long run.
- Learn to give more than you receive. You can always give by helping, assisting and aiding anyone in need. You can be more patient with the elderly. It is a fact that there is more happiness in giving rather than receiving.
- Explore and maximise your talents.
- Discuss the possibilities of choosing a career related to your talents.
- Seriously take up any kind of sports. It keeps you fit, healthy and helps you avoid bad habits.
- Good behaviour and minding your language is important! Word about bad behaviour gets around very quickly.
