Introduction

A dynamic group is seeking to recruit the Head of Engineering to manage various maintenance units within the company. The chosen candidate will be reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Our client is a major group incorporating various companies well involved in the construction, hotel and other industries.

Function

  • Overall responsibility for Engineering activities across the business
  • Implementing best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies and procedures to improve business performance
  • Ensuring that engineering strategies and processes are in place to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets
  • Evaluating the challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities
  • Contributing to overall business strategy and annual budget process
  • Taking ownership of the engineering policy, guidelines and any associated documents
  • Developing creative and innovative engineering processes
  • Providing consultancy and technical support to the maintenance teams
  • Assisting in projects with value engineering and controls during construction stage, refurbishments and routine maintenance
  • Ensuring any new equipment or engineering activity is supported with appropriate qualification documentation and that it is appropriately stored
  • Supporting the process for selection of external contractors, collaborating with purchasing and accounts teams to ensure all contracts are regularly reviewed to bring best value
  • Report on engineering activities to the CEO in an accurate and timely manner
  • Providing leadership to maintenance departments of various units across the group and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions
  • Supervising the units to make sure they work in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
  • Training and mentoring the staff
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts, including capital expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • At least 5 years of working experience in a similar position
  • Demonstrated experience in the management or diploma
  • An existing relationship or knowledge of suppliers within the hospitality or construction industry
  • Experience of managing large budgets and projects
  • A creative and strategic thinker
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • An ability to move a cross-functional group
  • Exceptionally good communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Result-oriented attitude
