A well established client of ours are looking to expand their compliance team with the addition of a Junior Associate. The successful candidate will be working closely with Administrative Assistants, other associates at all levels, managers and head as necessary. 

Description:
  • To assist and lead as necessary in reviewing, assessing and evaluating inspection reports, and representations for presentation of cases before the compliance monitoring committee;
  • To assist, prepare and issue administrative measures letters in line with the compliance monitoring committee’s decision and in preparing and issuing publication notices;
  • To assist and lead as necessary follow up actions imposed by the compliance monitoring committee;
  • To assist and lead as necessary in periodic exercises carried out by the Enforcement Section;
  • To contribute in advising and assisting subject persons to establish appropriate AML and CFT internal structures and controls;
  • To assist and contribute to the drawing up and maintenance of guidance and other papers that are issued by regulators;
  • To liaise and co-operate with supervisory authorities locally and abroad in joint enforcement and follow up actions as necessary;
  • To organise, alone or jointly with other organizations, AML training and public awareness;
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, Head, Senior Manager and Manager.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
  • Either a University degree (MQF Level 6) / an equivalent qualification in Banking and Finance, Financial Services, Economics, Law, English, or in any other subject provided that the applicant has proven experience in an area, which is relevant to this position;
  • or, MQF Level 5 qualification in Banking and Finance, Financial Services, Economics, Law or English and at least 3 years work experience relevant to this post. Candidates in possession of an equivalent qualification in another subject will also be eligible for this post, provided that they have proven work experience in an area which is relevant to this position;
  • Knowledge of the laws that govern prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Malta and the international standards and EU legislation in the area;
  • Experience in compliance with AML/CFT laws and regulations, financial services or gaming services is considered to be an asset;
  • Proven knowledge and experience in risk assessment & management and report writing is considered as an asset;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills in either Maltese or English;
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and office automation tools;
