Our client is an established financial organisation offering a selection of savings and investment schemes whilst also including wealth management.

The DBA Manager will manage and maintain the company's databases and will be a point of reference within the IT department. The successful candidate will have expertise in different database technologies and will report to the Senior IT Manager.

Description:
  • Proactively monitoring the database infrastructure to ensure secure services with high availability access and minimize any possible downtime
  • Bridging the communication between Data, Development and IT teams, improving processes and reducing friction on database related tasks
  • Participating in the development and data road-map to understand and contribute to current and upcoming solutions and company products
  • Troubleshooting and resolving production database issues, implementing database server configuration, performance tuning, analysis and optimization
  • Ensuring that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases are configured for high resilience and are tuned for optimum performance
  • Coordinating and implementing database changes for in-house code releases and database maintenance releases
  • Managing, guiding and mentoring the Data Architecture team
  • Creating, documenting and promoting team initiatives in order to improve team performance velocity and time to market
  • Implementing and maintaining policies, procedures and associated training plans for database administration
  • Pro-actively devising database improvement and scalability plan to cater for huge expected growth
Requirements:
  • University Degree and/or DBA certification would be considered an asset
  • At least 6 years of DBA experience in a SQL environment
  • Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools (SQL Server/Oracle)
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
  • PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills
  • Accustomed to enterprise level high-volume transactional systems and in database disaster recovery planning
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
