Duties include:
- Provide legal advice with regards to deeds of borrowing and related matters; − Communicate with related parties and Bank employees with regards to borrowing facilites;
- Review loan documentation and provide assistance with perfection of security;
- Liaising with the public registers, assist with preparation of drawdowns and supervise the fulfilment of various conditions precedent to drawdown;
- Appear for and on behalf of the Bank and to represent the same on notarial deeds of loan and similar banking facilities
- Advising on legal action to be taken in case of defaulting clients and liaising with external lawyers representing the Bank
- Undertaking legal research work as necessary and assisting other departments as may be required from time to time
- Engage additional legal team junior members in line with business growth requirements;
- Possess a Doctorate of Law with good knowledge of corporate and commercial law and real estate industry;
- Minimum 5 years experience within a credit institution or related role within a law firm
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; − Able to lead, manage and grow the legal team in line with the Bank's objectives
- Ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships
- Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to practice law in Malta with a good command of the Maltese language
