Introduction

A great opportunity has arisen within the banking industry for an Operations Officer. The successful candidate will form part of the Business Banking and Retail Deposits team and will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Organization

Our client is a well-established company within the financial services industry.

Function

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Performing due diligence checks and assisting in the on-going monitoring of existing customers
  • Conducting customer reviews according to internal policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that all AML and KYC requirements and procedures are followed appropriately
  • Providing reports on a regular basis, as directed or requested by the Operations Manager
  • Identifying risks associated with customer transactions and reporting such risks and compliance gaps to the Operations Manager
  • Supporting the Operations Manager in the on-boarding and screening process of new corporate and retail customers
  • Collaborating with all internal departments regarding any compliance issues in relation to new and existing business
  • Assisting the Operations Manager in market research and analysis together with the implementation of new projects as required from time to time
  • Maintaining and managing customers data, within a corporate management information system
  • Scheduling and attending customer meetings with the Operations Manager and recording meeting minutes
  • Performing general office duties such as handling of mail, scanning and proper filing when required
  • Supporting internal and external audits
  • Assisting in bank reconciliations, whenever required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Banking, Business, Management or related
  • The ability to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively
  • The ability to work proactively, independently, as well as part of a team
  • Be energetic and willing to learn and grow, and have a positive attitude
  • Have good customer service skills, an excellent eye for detail, and high work standard
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Previous experience within financial services/a corporate service provider as well as experience in a Bank’s Treasury Department are considered an asset
