Duties:
- To support the Head of Legal in developing data protection policies within the Unit.
- To monitor and ensure that the Organization remains compliant with the GDPR and the Data Protection Act and any other data protection and privacy rules;
- To conduct regular risk assessments and internal audits in order to identify any potential breaches within the organisation;
- To design and deliver training programs in order to raise awareness and educate employees on data protection best practices;
- To report and update on any issues, breaches, and major incidents.
- To collaborate effectively with regulatory bodies, specifically the Information and Data Protection Commission or the Data Protection Unit within the Ministry for Justice, Equality and Governance;
- To remain abreast of any amendments or developments pertaining to the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act, ensuring continuous awareness and adaptation to evolving regulatory frameworks;
- To serve as the primary liaison between the Organization and data subjects, overseeing and managing all data subject requests with the utmost professionalism and adherence to regulatory standards;
- To represent the Organization in any fora, whether locally or abroad, on any matters concerning data protection;
- To provide support in addressing inquiries related to data protection, offering comprehensive assistance and ensuring the accurate and timely response to all queries.
Requirements:
- University Degree (MQF Level 6) or equivalent in Law, IT or in any subject together with 6 years of relevant experience in the role (including 2 years in a senior role);
- Excellent communication skills in both the Maltese & English languages;
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of data protection principles and laws; Experience in the implementation of data protection rules;
- Pleasant personality and be of a good moral character.
