The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for managing an internal  project within the local construction industry. Chosen candidate will be providing related activities across various sites and providing guidance to all stakeholders involved in these activities.
The COO will work closely with all project stakeholders to ensure that project is delivered on time and to the required quality standard in line with agreed specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Manage operational risk and ensure compliance with operational regulations and laws
  • Lead and manage the project team and ensure that they have the resources and support needed to achieve their objectives
  • Provide operational guidance and support to other departments and teams within the company
  • Evaluate and improve operational processes and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Communicate operational results and recommendations to the board of directors
  • Organise and hold regular meetings with contractors, subcontractors, architects and other stakeholders involved in the project
  • Coordinate and collaborate with engineers, architects and other technical persons involved in the project
  • Plan and monitor all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Oversee contractors and provide guidance and direction when needed
  • Review and evaluate progress of works on all sites, prepare detailed reports and keep the board of directors properly informed
  • Analyse, manage and mitigate construction risks
Requirements
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, construction project cycles, procurement and contracting
  • Strong leadership and understanding of the need for consistent management processes
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Familiarity with construction / project management software and programmes
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage and monitor the effective use of financial and human resources
  • Fluency in English and Maltese
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience, at local or international levels, in construction project management and supervision
  • Knowledge and experience of planning, management and delivery of construction projects, as well as risk assessment and mitigation
  • Experience of administration of construction contracts
  • Professional project management qualifications, such as PRINCE II certification or equivalent, is considered as a plus
