An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Head of Legal to join an established as well as international company that provides risk management, goverance and compliance services there in Malta. You would be responsible for managing the legal function and will work closely with the CEO to drive the growth of the company's legal/compliance advisory services. 

Duties include: 
  • Oversee the MT entities’ legal matters  internally and externally across multiple jurisdictions and report back to Group Head of Legal and General Counsel 
  • Primary point of contact for all external specialist legal requests (e.g., DDQs, DD) for MT entities. 
  • Ensuring all contracts, legal documents and templates are up-to-date and compliant with statutory laws and in line with Group expectations. 
  • To provide professional and effective compliance/legal support services to clients (regulatory and FC compliance). 
  • To oversee any company secretarial related duties to ensure the MT entities are in line with MFSA and MBR requirements. 
  • To lead on identifying the legal risks and implications of all the MT entities, keep the CEOs and Group Head of Legal informed of developments in the laws and regulations that potentially affect the businesses. 
  • Negotiating and optimizing on agreements. 
  • To provide training to clients and whenever internally on regulatory and FC compliance related topics.  
  • Advise the CEOs on legal matters critical to the growth of the business. 
  • Anticipate and plan for all legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate those risks and reporting back to Group Head of Legal, General Counsel and CEOs. 
  • To pro-actively network internally and externally and to identify and implement best practice; and  
  • Work with the CEO to strategically drive the growth of the legal and/or compliance advisory services. 
Requirements: 
  • Candidates must hold a Law Degree and warrant to practice 
  • Experience in funds and investments is considered an asset 
  • This positions calls for a candidate who holds excellent strategic skills, and is capable of working independantly.
