Our well-established client within the financial services industry is seeking to recruit a Risk Manager. The Risk Manager will be working closely with the Compliance Team and will be reporting to the CEO. 

Duties include:

  • Assist the Board in setting risk management strategy, in developing a risk management framework of the Undertaking's risk appetite, limits, and tolerances, in establishing internal risk management structures, and in ensuring that the necessary resources are available and dedicated to achieving the risk management objectives;

  • Work with the Board and other functions in assessing and defining the risks existing in specific risk areas and from those assessments developing written risk management policies and procedures to manage those risks;

  • Assisting the Board in assessing the company's capacity to absorb risk with due regard to nature, probability, duration, correlation, and potential severity of risks, including looking at risks from different perspectives, such as by territory or by a line of business;

  • Identify and assess emerging risks and advising the Board thereon;

  • Work with the Board and other functions to determine acceptable risk limits for each risk type and facilitating control mechanisms to ensure that limits and procedures are adhered to and that the company is operating within the risk appetite parameters set by the board;

  • Assist the Board in implementing the risk strategy agreed upon by ensuring the effective operation of the risk management system, by facilitation of other functions, and by performing specialist analysis and quality reviews;

  • Maintain an organization-wide, aggregated view of the Company's Undertaking's risk profile;

  • Prepare reports, either separately or in conjunction with other functions as needed, for formal discussion at Client Board meetings and for presentation to other stakeholders on the material risks faced by the Undertaking and on the effectiveness of the risk management system;

  • Develop documented processes to respond to imminent and post-loss risk events, including contingency and business continuity programs.

  • Evaluate on a regular basis the design and operational effectiveness of the risk management system to identify, measure, monitor, manage and report risks the company is exposed to;

  • Advise the Board on the effectiveness of strategies and policies with respect to maintaining, on an on-going basis, amounts, types, and distribution of capital adequate to cover the risks of the institution;

  • Support the company staff in all Risk Management related matters that are reported to the wider Captive Practice team;

  • Assist with the Business Risk Assessment and Client Risk Assessment of the Management Company.

Requirements: 

  • Candidates must hold previous experience within a Risk Management role 

  • Experience within the financial services industry is required 

  • Candidates must be PQ'd by the MFSA or in the process of being PQ'd. 

  • This position calls for a candidate with excellent organizational skills and time management skills
